Designers interested in specific disciplines find that AIGA communities of interest offer a non-competitive approach to communicating with colleagues and competitors who are actively solving similar problems across the country. Advocate your Positions, Showcase your Contribution Give the profession a voice on issues that matter – defining the profession to ensure its relevance, advocating public policy on behalf of graphic designers, developing standards for professional practice that define the ethics of the profession and undertaking national initiatives that are beyond the capacity of any individual to achieve alone.
AIGA mounts coordinated campaigns using design as a means of addressing community problems. All of these initiatives are open to AIGA members, in terms of participation and in initiating new projects. Recent projects include literacy, design in the schools, voter participation and community development. AIGA is active on federal and state legislative issues, as well as court cases that can benefit designers' intellectual practices and businesses.
