AIGA Members and all Students: $125
Non-Members: $175

This is a small training session with lots of personal attention, so classes only hold 12 attendees. Box lunch from Jason’s Deli is included in the admission price.

About the hands-on session:
We'll cover the essentials, including an in-depth look at MovieClips and Graphic symbols. During this class, you’ll learn how to create a “file viewer,” which is a versatile system that you can use as a foundation for many applications, such as an online portfolio for yourself, or for your next client project. You’ll learn how to:

  • Perfect your animations with the help of the new easing capabilities added for timeline animations.

  • Create advanced effects using the new additions for Flash 8, including blurs, drop shadows and the highly requested blending modes.

  • Put together a “shell file” for your animations, by covering optimized techniques used to load completed animations into a website as the end user requests them.

  • Take a look at ActionScript and how to code so that we can make your files as dynamic as possible, meaning that only external files need to be manipulated.  This technique allows you to update the Flash file with very little effort.

At the end of the day, you’ll be able to publish all necessary files and move them to a "host" and view the final output.

About the instructor:
Jonathan is an experienced developer certified to develop and teach Flash, ColdFusion, and Dreamweaver classes. He's been working with the web since the early 90's when his neighbor was trading bootleg Bob Dylan tapes with folks in England, using something called "email". Anxious to start using his own "email" he found Neosoft, the only company in Houston that offered "Internet Service." The only package they offered was $50 for 10 hours a month. Needless to say, Jonathan
has seen the web explode through the years and has always remained on the bleeding edge of technology.

Jonathan teaches Flash, ColdFusion, and Dreamweaver classes at Connect Learning. He’s obsessive when it comes to automation and dynamic code. He uses ColdFusion to manipulate backend data with a front end Flash interface, and most of his projects use Flash Remoting to access Web applications, XML, and Web services. He developed the Web registration application used at Connect Learning, and he developed and continues to improve the company Website.

Thanks to our sponsors:
A very special thanks to Adobe and Connect Learning, without whom, this event would not be possible.
